The Pilates Method trains all of the body to gain strength in the manner it was designed to perform. Joseph Pilates believed that in order to achieve total mastery of your body, you need to use your mind. He called this mastery Contrology, using your mind to master your muscles. If at the age of thirty you are stiff and out of shape, then you are “old”. If at sixty you are supple and strong, then you are “young”.

Pilates has so many benefits for so many people. Pilates works deeper muscles in the body and develops long, lean, defined muscles. This discipline also strengthens the core or the belt of your body, adding flexibility, balance, and improves posture. Pilates is a total body workout. This means that you work many muscle groups at the same time during one exercise instead of isolating one muscle group.

At Core Fitness Ltd., you can perform hundreds of Pilates exercises on the Mat, Reformer, Cadillac, Wunda Chair, Ladder Barrel, and Spine Corrector. Our extensively trained instructors can make modifications designed to meet your goals and needs.

Pilates is truly an all – encompassing technique that can be practiced by anyone who wishes to move with more power, grace, and less trauma to his or her body. Pilates builds strong bodies and increases the body’s resilience to debilitating effects of age.

The Pilates philosophy focuses on training the mind and body to work together toward the goal of overall fitness. Ideally our muscles should obey our will. Most other exercise routines call for an increased intensity, frequency and/or duration of activity over periods of time in order to make progress. The Pilates Method, however, is more concerned with efficiency. The workout never increases in time, but rather increases in the amount you accomplish in that time. Transform the way your body feels, looks and performs.
